Advertising disclosure

Updated October 17, 2026

These pages are educational. A commercial link, if one is ever added, has to be obvious.

No paid links today

The site configuration has three empty slots for refinance referrals, and advertising is turned off. Empty slots are not rendered as links. You should not see a lender button on the refinance guide.

If a link is added

A filled link is expected to appear only on the refinance guide, with the word Ad beside it, a commission notice near it, and a warning that refinancing a federal loan into a private loan drops federal protections. The link would use a sponsored relationship. A commission, if any, would be paid by the lender's program, not added to your loan.

Until a placement is actually approved, those links stay off. Third-party write-ups of commission amounts were not treated as confirmed and are not repeated as prices.

Refinance warning

Refinancing federal student loans with a private lender replaces them with a private loan. Income-driven plans such as RAP and IBR, federal deferment and forbearance, PSLF, and other federal discharge programs generally do not carry over, and the step generally cannot be reversed. That warning is part of the guide even when no link is shown. This site does not encourage a federal borrower to refinance.

No lender rates

Rates, fees, and approval odds are not published. These pages do not promise a future payment, a saving, or a return. Any future rate would need a dated lender source next to it.

Independence

Guides are written from public rules and agency pages. A lender does not review them. The Education Department does not review them either. See About for how the estimates are made.
